The Countdown to Fall is On!

My apologies to those who cringed when they saw this post title. For those of you who welcome the Fall colours and weather changes - and fashions, of course - get excited with me!

Nothing like the fall fashion lines to make me come out of my blog-less-o-sphere. Every time I post, I feel the need to apologize for my lack of postings. Yes - my last post was in February. Yes - I have no excuse for my slacking. Yes - I am going to try to gear this blog up again!

For starters, lets discuss a recent purchase and some serious want-ing.

Exhibit A - the Wilfred Free Lisière dress in Heather Black from Aritzia. It is so comfortable, fits well and the salt-and-pepper-like colouring it has going on is forgiving, ladies! The cut at the bottom is also fantastic. Seemingly casual - deceivingly fancy-schmancy.

I love the colouring so much, I bought the long sleeve, round neck shirt version of it in the light grey.

Exhibit B - The shoes I saw, tried on, and now want. They would be perfect with the dress and for all other suitable outfits in my wardrobe. The only drawback - who can spot me the $250 I'll need to purchase them. I can cover the HST. Anyone, anyone .... anyone?

Black Friday - North of the Border

I think Canadian retailers are finally wanting a piece of the infamous Black Friday sales in the U.S. Though the sales may fall short, it allows those of us stuck here in Canada for the weekend to take advantage of some sales for holiday gifts, or this-one's-for-me gifts!

Here are some sales going on at some of my favourite spots in the city - happy shopping!

Summer Lovin' the Coral

Blazer: H&M, Top: Aritzia, Jeans: 7 For All Mankind, Shoes: Nine West

Clearly the ipad is not the ideal device to be taking outfit shots on - but, it'll have to do for now!

I keep saying that I've wanted to start incorporating personal style looks on my blog for a while now - so here we are! Let's hope I can post these with greater frequency!

I love a simple look with just a pop of colour and this coral colour is absolutely amazing for the summer.

With the exception of the H&M blazer, I scored all these items on sale - that's just how I roll! If you have patience, holding off for the seasonal sales are well worth the wait.

Aritzia Enters the World of Swimwear

Aritzia spruces things up and makes moves into the swimwear market! Welcome to TNA swim line - not a bad start, but definitely a safe start. I'm sure it will be bought up by the teenage demographic TNA targets so they have that much bang-on. As for us 20 somethings - maybe we'll see some Wilfred suits popping up in time for swimwear season...next year - if all things work out with this tester!

Aritzia may need to start stepping up their game, I'm getting rather bored with the same old items each season - throw in some new colours and textures, recycle the same styles. Things need to shift a little more from season to season - anyone else with me on this one? I can't be the only one!

Aritzia Spring Faves

Aritzia's Spring 2012 collection is starting to hit stores and I've picked a few of my favourite items - so far!

Kick those February blaaaahs and get out for some retail therapy - the colours for Spring 2012 are a definite pick-me-up.

These pieces are so feminine and fun - I can't wait for Spring. Or, even better - let's just fast forward to Summer. Move it along, people.

Aritzia - Spring 2012 Preview

To be honest, I'm not feeling so crazy about anything I'm seeing here. Can't wait to see the rest of it in store though, Aritzia never lets me down!

Sweater Obsession

My fall/winter obsession every year is the cozy, warm, wool sweaters. When you live in Canada, it's kind of a second nature/way of life. Some of us wear the flannel coats, the more stylish wear the heavy wool sweater.

Aritzia has had various versions of these sweaters for the past two years and I'm experiencing a bit of an obsession. I scored one last year, later in the season for about half the price in the after christmas sale, now i'm drooling over the colours out this season. I am particularly fond of the peach hue in the second sweater - I have it ... in two sizes (I'm not crazy. I'm returning one - I swear.). They are so cozy and the colours are amazing, making an executive decision is extreeeeemely difficult. I am also very fond of the first sweater, not only for the colours but for the buttons versus the zipper on the second one! If the second one came with buttons, it would be a no-brainer for me...

If they weren't so pricey, i'd take one of each!

Clearly, there are more important things to spend my time thinking about - but, I can't help it!

Shopping-itis

I've been having a serious case of shopping-itis in the past two days.

I hauled my mom to The Bay yesterday to check out a pair of shoes that were in their recent VIP magazine. I ended up making the purchase. They are the perfect fall shoe to wear with jeans and the tassel details won me over. I can't wait to wear these puppies!

While at The Bay yesterday, I also happened upon a fantastic wool scarf with the most amazing print - a french-like woman smoking a cigarette. Though I don't condone the smoking, I couldn't resist the scarf! I had to trek over to The Bay during my lunch to pick it up because I couldn't stop thinking about it. I couldn't find a picture of it to share with all of you - take my word for it, it's wonderful.

I will refer to the dress as collateral damage. I hadn’t been into Aritzia in a couple of weeks so I had the urge to pop in and check out the new stuff! They certainly have a lot of great fall pieces but this dress caught my eye for its colour and price tag. As mentioned in a previous post, I am falling in love with burgundy this fall and the dress just spoke to me - and then yelled when I realized it was only $50!

Just wanted to share a few fall purchases with all of you! I hope you’re all enjoying the fall fashions and the cooler temperatures.
