Though I may not necessarily be the biggest fan of Chanel's collections, I am loving the nails on the models for the Fall 2012 Couture show.

I love the colour contrast here and it's like working the whole colour blocking trend into your nail polish - me likey.

A Little Friday Funny

Thought I would share something a little amusing for your Friday.

The talented illustrator Mike Frederiqo gives the infamous Mr. SquarePants some different looks!

There are some clear telltale signs indicating who SpongeBob is channeling but in case it's been a long week - Coco Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld and Terry Richardson.

Affordable Chanel

Affordability is relative.

Chanel has come out with cosmetic pads embossed with the iconic logo. For $20 you can get a pack of 100 cotton Chanel pads – for my fellow Canadians, I think we can assume this is in US dollars so smack an additional $5 Canada tax on there. So, for the relatively cheap price of $25 you can - tone your face, remove your make-up or switch up your nail polish with a Chanel embossed cotton  pad...

an exquisitely soft tri-layer pad developed in Japan: its outer lining, made from delicate, handpicked Egyptian cotton, and its inner filling, comprised of lightly entwined, elastic Australian fibers

Tempted? Be silly - buy it and then let me use one. In the meantime, i’ll stick with my $2 cotton pads.

Lady Gaga in Custom Chanel

So, Lady Gaga has partnered with Barney's in the U.S. for the holiday season and created Gaga's Workshop. If you haven't seen any images of it, the whole thing is pretty extravagant - would anyone expect anything less from the Lady?

She showed up for the launch of the Workshop in a custom Chanel outfit. Chanel isn't usually known for over-the-top pieces like this, but I think Karl made it work. It looks like a little much, but at the same time you get the sure-fire feeling that it is a Chanel - the pearls, tweed and quilted bag are pretty obvious Chanel signatures.

Gaga makes it work. Karl is a magician in design.

I can’t help but think of Alice in Wonderland looking at this outfit…is anyone else getting the same feeling?

Chanel - Spring/Summer 2012

Chanel's shows have done away with your typical runway in recent seasons, opting instead for some spectacular creativity. The images of the runway blow.my.mind. The setting is so beautiful and the clothes look even better on such a gorgeous backdrop.

The theme was under the sea and models strutted their stuff around coral, clam shells and bubbles while Florence Welch sang atop one of the shells. I hope this creativity marks a turning point in the stale runway show.

Shade Parade

I thought this was a very interesting and cute way for Chanel to market their new line of nail polish colours. Though you don't get a really good sense of all the colours, I still want to share the video with you - hit the play button already!

Sleeping With The Enemy

The UPS delivery man came bearing gifts this afternoon! I ordered a few books on Amazon last week, one of which is Sleeping With The Enemy by Hal Vaughan. Here's a little snippet, but you can read more abotu it on his website or purchase a copy for yourself:

Vaughan reveals the truth of Chanel’s long-whispered collaboration with Hitler’s high-ranking officials in occupied Paris from 1940 to 1944. He writes in detail of her decades-long affair with Baron Hans Günther von Dincklage, “Spatz” (“sparrow” in English), described in most Chanel biographies as being an innocuous, English-speaking tennis player, playboy, and harmless dupe—a loyal German soldier and diplomat serving his mother country and not a member of the Nazi party.

My two other purchases that I am quite equally excited about are Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty and 50 Fashion Designers You Should Know. I can't wait to go through the former and see the amazing photography displaying works by the late fashion designer. The latter is a great book with quick and dirty bios for 50 of the worlds more coveted designers.

These three books will be great additions to my growing fashion library!

Chanel - Fall/Winter 2011

Amazing runway set-up. Even more amazing clothes.

Karl Lagerfeld has once again created an amazing line for Chanel. I believe the whole idea around the creation of the runway, reflects the line itself –the reinvention of fashion in a post-apocalyptic time.

Blake Lively for the cover of Elle

I know it's Chanel and all - but I'm pretty sure I could find something better to spend my $$$ on than this tattered cardigan jacket from their 2011 spring/summer collection.

I am a fan of Chanel - usually - but it looks like they're trying to steer away from their classic and more conservative looks. I think they took a wrong turn somewhere along the way.

Sidenote: Can Blake Lively look something other than stunning all the time? Jealous.
