It's Good to be a Mouse

Mickey Mouse must be doling out a good chuck-o-chedda to have his Misses parading around in Lanvin!

The story goes – Mickey Mouse wrote a letter to Alber Elbaz asking him to design something for Minnie to wear during Disneyland Paris’ 20th anniversary parade. It would appear Mr. Elbaz took him up on the request and this is the end result:

Apparently there's a video to be released shortly - will keep you posted!

Met Gala - The Bad and The Ugly

Christina Ricch in Thakoon

Debra Messing in Kaufmanfranco

Elizabeth Banks in Mary Katrantzou

Emma Stone in Lanvin

Eva Mendes in Prada

Julianne Hough in Carolina Herrera

Karolina Kurkova and Rachel Zoe in Rachel Zoe

Leighton Meester in Marchesa

Rashida Jones in Tory Burch
For all events, we always see the good, the bad and the ugly.

File these under the bad and the ugly.
I generally like most of these peoples' fashion choices, but sometimes bad fashion happens to good people!

Artist Liu Bolin for Harper's Bazaar

Images courtesy of Harper's Bazaar

Harper's Bazaar collaborated with Chinese artist Liu Bolin for the March issue of the mag.

I've seen some of his work before and always found it so ridiculous - in a good way. He paints himself into backgrounds and blends in, and essentially disappears. Google image him and you'll see what I'm talking about!

This time around, he made some of the world's top designers disappear - Angela Missoni, Alber Elbaz of Lanvin, Jean Paul Gaultier, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli of Valentino.

Check out their website to see a short video of the whole ordeal.

Lanvin Dolls Up For Charity

Lanvin has created four limited edition dolls with Dessine L'Espoir, a charity favourite of Alber Elbaz. The charity helps HIV-positive women in African and these dolls have all been handmade by HIV-positive women in Swaziland.  The dolls will go on sale in November for $350 a pop and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to benefit the charity. They're even wearing mini replecas of dresses by the designer!

What I would give to be a doll right now ... $350 is a steal for a Lanvin!

If you want to see more pictures of the dolls and the women working on them, you can check out Vogue UK's website.

Pretty cute idea to raise money for a charity!

DOs - 2011 MTV Video Music Awards

Best dressed nods go out to Beyonce and Selena Gomez - these two looked the most glamourous in their gorgeous gowns.

Katie Holmes and Britney Spears get my honourable mentions as well. Though, they lose some serious points for their shoe selections - they just don't jive with their dresses. The stylists who let them out the door with that footwear should retire. If no stylists were involved, then there very well should have been!

Vogue Spain

All photos: Tom Munro for Vogue Spain
Katie Holmes graces the cover of the August issue of Vogue Spain looking phenomenal.

I tend to find she often looks awkward in photos but this spread is amazing and she looks great - with the exception of a few shots where I can sort of see the awkward creeping in. I will look past this and see the entire spread as stunning – great photography and great styling.

For the cover shot, Katie is wearing a lace dress from Lanvin’s 2011 Fall/Winter collection – which makes me envious.
Again, I echo the fact that I would love to do a professional shoot like this!

This bitch has all the luck! She looks better than she did in the 80s and now she's sporting fashions I only wish I could afford. Though, I have to admit - she is looking great for her age!

These images are set to appear in the August issue of Harper's Bazaar ahead of the July 29th release of The Smurfs.

This must hurt Lindsay Lohan to see - Smurfette's career is doing way better than hers!

Alber Elbaz for Lanvin

Photos via Lanvin
Absolutely freakin' adorable. The kids, the fashion, the everything. I wish my mom put me in designer fashion at this age. Though you wouldn't really appreciate it much at the time, you'll always be able to look back at photos and see how fashionable you were as a tot!

These images are from the Lanvin 'Petite' Collection.

Go ahead - awwww all you want, it's impossible not to love these kids - in photography at least!

Lanvin Spring 2011 Campaign

I'm really enjoying the fashion industry's move towards producing these campaign videos in recent years. They have been doing an amazing job of fusing the art of fashion with other art forms in such creative ways. In my eyes, this is a great way to market their labels outside of the regular old spreads in fashion magazines where they often get lost among the hundreds of other ads often found in the more popular mags.
